Stephane Toutoundji

Stéphane Toutoundji was born on 4th October, 1966 in Metz. At the age of 4 he moved to Bordeaux, where he passed his scientific baccalaureate. His intention was then to study biochemistry. He came across oenology as if by chance. It happened in 1988, on his visit to the cellar and barrel storehouse at Château Angélus, a Saint Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé. The atmosphere of the place struck him so much that he went on an internship during the grape harvest with Hubert de Boüard. Michel Rolland, an oenologist, was at that time adviser to Château Angélus, and working alongside him confirmed Stéphane Toutoundji’s vocation: he would become an oenologist.
As he became familiar with the world of wine, he was able to benefit from the advice and expert analysis of a highly experienced oenologist. He went on to take a degree in oenology (or D.N.O.) at Bordeaux1 University. His passion for travel and his inquisitive nature led him to Australia, where he spent several years, in particular working for Pernod Ricard as Assistant Marketing Manager. On his return to France, he worked in Côtes de Castillon for a few years, where he was in charge of making wine from Merlot grapes for British companies.
Stéphane Toutoundji now spends his time both in France and abroad, keen as he is on discoveries and experiences of all kinds. He is able to offer expert advice with a view toproducing quality wines that will meet consumer expectations.
In 2007, Turasan Vineyards - located in Urgup in the Cappadocia region -the heart of Turkey- called upon Stéphane Toutoundji’s expertise.
